  • My name is Douglas Lombardo and I was reading your history of your church and I wanted to add that the church's first sermons or in-home bible classes were held in my grandmother's home at 34 Roland Place in Fox Lake in the mid fifties. Her name was Angeline Lombardo. With help from her sister-in-law, Rose Lombardo, the founding of the Fox Lake Baptist Church was instrumented. As a little tyke I remember that our Sunday dinners at my grandmothers house were later in the afternoon due to the services that she hosted. The services were held in the room/porch that my Grandfather added on to the house to facillitate my grandmothers desire to provide a place to hold service for the Fox Lake Baptist Church. After it outgrew her home is when it moved and was held in a little store front(which I believe is still there) on West Grand Avenue, then the Hamsher Funeral home, and then to its own building near or at the corner of West Grand Avenue and N. Pistakee Lake Road. At some point that building burned down.
I write this not to correct so much but to add to the church's wonderful history and to note that a local lady cared so much about the word of the Lord that she started prayer meetings in her own home that developed into a wonderful house of worship called the Fox Lake Baptist Church now known as Crosspoint! I just think this is a wonderful testimony that should be shared.
